Welcome to Our New School
Over 80 years in Walnut Creek. Brand new this year
We are a private, independent JK - 8th grade school in Walnut Creek. We have a rigorous academic curriculum led by experienced teachers. We do not have any religious affiliation. We welcome members of all backgrounds into our community.
Our community has been in Walnut Creek for over 80 years. We are educators, students, staff and parents. We go to school together, socialize together and we are raising our children together. We used to go to school on Jones Road. The owners of our old school recently decided to discontinue operations. Now our community, our educators, students, parents and staff are going to Our New School. We hope you will come with us.
While our teachers, administrators and program are already in place, we are building this website in real time. We will continue to add more information in the days ahead as we respond to parent questions. Soon, we will also look for your help in selecting a name for Our New School.
We offer a rigorous academic program that extends from Junior Kindergarten through to 8th grade. Our homeroom classes have 18-22 children, which is fewer children than most schools but still large enough for team projects and socialization. We then split into small skill-based groups of 8-12 children to focus on the core subjects of math and reading. This model allows us to offer the specialized opportunities that students need to reach their potential while doing so in a more familiar school environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a new school or an old school?
We are the teachers, administrators and families who went to school on Jones Road in Walnut Creek. The owners of that school recently announced that the school was closing. Over two thousand people expressed a desire for our community to continue and our students wanted to stay with their amazing teachers. We are what happens when a program is so strong, the educators so outstanding, and the parents so supportive that we all just keep going. We have no legal relationship with our old school. We will continue to grow and thrive as Our New School. Most schools could not do what we are doing. Most schools have not created the community that we have.
We know your reputation, but we want to go to school in person this Fall.
We all do. Private schools in particular are under tremendous pressure to tell you that they will offer in-person instruction in the Fall. We understand why they say that, but the truth is that no school knows what it will be allowed to do. The County and the State have not yet articulated how that will happen and anything that they do say now may be revised later. Several public school districts have already announced that they will either be online only or that they will have a rotating schedule. Many schools may plan for students to come to campus only to find that they have to make last minute adjustments later. We are committing to online learning so that we can provide certainty to parents and so that we can best use this summer to prepare.
Where are you located?
We are now vetting sites in Walnut Creek. This summer we will select a temporary ‘Supervised Study’ site(s) and a permanent site that we can build/renovate into a modern campus. This is not a long shot. We have identified several promising sites already and are working with the city on conditional use permits for Our New School.
How do I tour or learn more?

Alternatively, please use the ‘contact us’ form at the bottom to let us know which grades you are interested in and a question or a two and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
