Lower School

1st - 4th Grades

Our program dives deep into the core subjects of math, reading, writing, science and social studies while also exposing our students to extra-curricular offerings, art, computers and foreign languages to help students develop their interests.

Starting in the 2021/2022 school year students will have the choice to pursue either Spanish or Mandarin Chinese for their foreign language requirement.  Our language classes in the Lower School focus more on conversation and listening ability than on grammar; the goal is for students to learn a language that they can use and not to pass a language test.

Homeroom class sizes are typically around 18 students with a max limit of 22.  In our homeroom class we work on individual and group projects, explore science, study history and so much more. We then split into smaller groups of around 8-12 for both math and reading. This allows us to spend more time on the fundamentals for those who need it while also enabling others to perform work at a higher grade level if they are ready.

Our daily schedule includes study hall. Our program does have homework but many of our students will complete their homework in study hall before going home. Our optional after-school enrichment courses do not have any homework.
